Planning a Halal Wedding in Singapore? 8 Things to Know Before Booking Your Venue

June 29, 2025

Weddings are truly the most fabulous depiction of one’s culture – from colorful Indian weddings to  vibrant Malay weddings, each celebration is culturally authentic. Singapore being one of the most (if not the most) multicultural country in the world, is home to the most diverse wedding events. One of the reasons why when you look at Landmark, you see 8 different wedding packages, from Bollywood to Sayang to Romantis

Singapore is also home to a large population of people looking to plan a halal wedding. Event spaces like Landmark not only offer a halal certified menu, but also give complete package visibility.  What do we mean when we say complete visibility? Here are the 8 things you should be checking off when booking your halal wedding venue:

  1. Does it actually have the halal certification

Just calling themselves ‘muslim-friendly’ is not enough – they should provide clear documentation that verifies they have a halal-certified kitchen. This is particularly straight forward in Singapore as opposed to other countries where there may be multiple authorities. The halal certification in Singapore comes from MUIS (Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura), it’s the only authority here, ensuring consistent standards everywhere.

  1. Capacity and segregation possibilities

When locking any space for an event, it’s of course imperative to consider whether it has enough capacity to accommodate your guests. Once that is checked off, you can move on to considering other layers such as segregation possibilities – some of your guests may not be comfortable in a mixed gathering; for them having the option of subdividable spaces would be ideal for gender segregation. Landmark can host up to 1,000 guests in its ballroom and provides the option of segregation if needed.

  1. Is it buffet or banquet style?

Everyone has their own wedding preferences; it’s important to check the menu style so you can pre-align what’s best for your guest list. A buffet is typically the more preferred option as it offers a larger variety, more relaxed vibe, and often is more budget-friendly.

  1. Does it have onsite solemnisation packages
If you’re having an onsite nikkah/solemnization ceremony – have everything booked in advance and don’t leave anything for the last minute. Places like Landmark have solemnization packages which make everything super convenient when planning your muslim wedding. Setup typically  includes platform, mic, and seating arrangements.
  2. Does the venue offer prayer facilities
Once halal-certified kitchen has been checked off – move to other muslim wedding requirements. Depending on the time your event is, you may require a prayer room for your guests. This is not far reaching at all, for example, Landmark has a prayer facility/musollahs for events.
  1. Does the venue have access to a bridal room
It’s important to consider the bride’s privacy – she’ll need it for touch-ups, outfit changes, and quiet moments. The room should ideally be close to the main event space and available to you for the full duration of your booking.
  2. Is there easy parking and accessibility
Ensure the location has ample space for self parking or a convenient valet service, guests should not have to stress over finding parking space outside your event location. Plus there should ideally be a wheelchair or an at-the-door drop off option for the elderly/differently-abled.
  3. Do they have pictures of previously hosted weddings?

Ask the space to share real photos of previously hosted events. You can also look at their social media pages for event references at your home. Landmark’s social media pages (Instagram, TikTok) showcase real weddings hosted by them, from poolside to grand ballroom setups. This helps customers do their research at home and have a vision of the kind of decor they are interested in.
